Observability and log retention scale with the plan (7 days on Starter, 30 on Pro, 60 on Business). Strapi also shipped an MCP server in 2026, so AI agents can manage content directly, which is a genuine differentiator among headless CMSs right now. Who it is for: development teams building a marketing site, a mobile app backend, or a multi-channel content layer who want editors to self-serve without giving up control of hosting, schema, or data residency. How it compares: Sanity and Contentful are hosted-only and priced per seat and per API call, which gets expensive as an editorial team grows but removes all operational work. Directus is the closest philosophical peer - open source, self-hostable, database-first - and is often shortlisted against Strapi. Payload is the strongest TypeScript-native alternative. WordPress with a REST API is cheaper and more familiar to editors but carries the plugin and security burden Strapi was built to avoid.
