About Plain

Plain is a customer support platform built specifically for B2B SaaS companies, on the premise that supporting a hundred business accounts is a fundamentally different job from supporting a hundred thousand consumers - and that most helpdesks are built for the latter. The difference is structural. In consumer support, tickets are independent and the goal is throughput. In B2B, the person emailing you belongs to an account, that account has a plan and a renewal date and a customer success owner, and the same issue may be raised by three people at the same company across email, Slack, and in-app chat. A conventional helpdesk models this as three unrelated tickets. Plain models the customer. The product is built around that: a shared inbox unified across email, in-app chat, and Slack Connect - which matters because Slack Connect is now where a large share of B2B support actually happens - with customer context pulled in from your own systems via API, so the person answering sees the account, the plan, and the relevant product state rather than just a message. It is designed to be extended in code rather than configured in a settings panel, which suits engineering-led teams and is a poor fit for teams that want to click through a wizard. The interface is deliberately fast and keyboard-driven, following the same design lineage as Linear and Superhuman - the aesthetic that treats speed as a feature. Against Intercom, Plain is narrower, cleaner, and aimed at B2B rather than at high-volume consumer support with an AI agent attached. Against Zendesk, it is dramatically lighter and less configurable, which is the point. Against Front, the difference is the data model: Front is an excellent shared inbox organised around email, while Plain is organised around customers and their accounts. Against running support in a shared Slack channel and a Gmail alias - which is what most early-stage B2B companies actually do - Plain is the structured version of that, without forcing the team into ticket-shaped workflows they will resent. Choose it when your customers are companies, when support happens across Slack as much as email, and when your team would rather write a small integration than configure a large product.
