About Bubble
Bubble is a visual programming platform for building full web applications - database, business logic, user accounts, payments, and API integrations - without writing code, and it is the most capable tool in the no-code category by a considerable margin.
The distinction that matters is between site builders and application builders. Webflow, Framer, and Carrd produce websites: excellent ones, but the content is largely static and the logic is shallow. Bubble produces software. It has a real database with data types and relationships, a workflow engine that runs conditional logic on user actions, user authentication with privacy rules, and an API connector that talks to any external service. Marketplaces, internal tools, booking systems, and genuine SaaS products have been built and monetised on it.
That capability comes with a real learning curve, and this is the most commonly under-stated fact about the platform. Bubble is not easy in the way a landing-page builder is easy - it is programming with a visual interface instead of a text editor, and it demands the same conceptual understanding of data models, state, and logic that code does. Founders who expect to build a marketplace in a weekend are the ones who churn.
Pricing is freemium: a free tier for learning and prototyping, then paid plans metered on workload units, which scale with how much your application actually computes rather than with user seats. Model that carefully before launching something high-traffic - it is the most frequent source of pricing surprise.
The comparisons split by ambition. Webflow and Framer win for marketing sites and anything design-led. Softr and Glide are dramatically faster for turning a spreadsheet or Airtable base into a simple app, and are the better answer for internal tools. FlutterFlow targets mobile. Against writing code, Bubble trades performance ceiling, portability, and hiring pool for speed to a working product - and the exit path is a rewrite, not an export, which is the strategic cost to weigh honestly.
Choose Bubble when the thing you are building is genuinely an application, when validating the idea matters more than owning the codebase, and when you are prepared to invest real time in learning the tool rather than expecting it to be effortless.
